Product Director Mike McGinn has always been passionate about the logistics of the food service industry. After working for TGI Friday’s for 5 years as a host, food runner, and server, Mike knew that he enjoyed the food service aspect, the face-to-face interactions at front of house. Subsequently, he attended University of Illinois Champaign Urbana and studied food science and human nutrition with a focus in hospitality management. But Mike also wanted to try something different, the world of events. He interned with Special Events Management, an events company that focused on large scale events, everything from festivals to races. It was a very intense job with long hours, but it didn’t scare him away from the industry, so Mike knew he was in the right place. After graduation, Mike was hired by Meetinghouse as a project manager, but felt unfulfilled since nothing was his own in that position. So, Mike became the head of food and beverage at the Kinzie Hotel in Chicago. His time there was mostly focused on organizing, doing SOPs, getting everything in place, which he loved. However, he found his way back to SBR Events Group as Product Director for catering. 
Mike enjoys seeing everything come to together in an event. He enjoys asking the questions to make sure the logistics of an event go off without a hitch. When an event goes well and the client’s vision is realized is the most satisfying part of the job! 
In his free time, Mike is trying to get into reading. He also enjoys cooking when he has the time, as well as reality tv and pop culture. A fun fact about Mike is that he loves cars and knows a lot of facts about cars. He also enjoys planning get-togethers with his family and friends.
